About New Creations Chapel
New Creations Chapel » About
In 1967, Tim and Bonnie Cummings, newly married and just 23 years of age, received an unction from God to work with young people. They started teaching 5th and 6th graders in their local church. In 1969, New Creations was started for the young people in the surrounding communities and it continues this ministry today to young people all over the world.
In October 1976, New Creations moved to its present location at the intersection of 1-70 and U.S.40. Since the beginning in 1969, church services have been held. The church opened the Christian residential facility in 1971 when the Cummings opened their home to hurting youth. In 1978 we saw the beginning of a Christian Boarding School, and a Christian school for local area youth. In 1984, a Bible College was added to train young adults, and in 1995, the long awaited Christian camping program was opened.
Rich Mullins (Oct. 21, 1955 - Sept. 19, 1997) An important part of Rich Mullins' musical talents in Richmond, Indiana (his hometown) was being the piano player, song writer and vocalist for the New Creations Choir which was started by Tim Cummings in the early 70's. The choir had a bus, toured several states and even produced a record album. Rich Mullins was a contributing factor in its beginning. Rich Mullins is known well for his songs "Step by Step" and "Awesome God." (from the Wikipedia article on Richard Wayne Mullins)
