Feel Lost? Seek the Lord

On our walk of life there are times that we just lose it. It seems that everywhere we turn we cannot do anything correct. We can even come to the point that we seem to lose it with God. If you feel lost today, then this message is for you. You must turn away from being lost to being found, and you do that by seeking the Lord.

According to the dictionary, you seek by trying to reach, find or come to. That is what we are going to do in this devotional: give direction back to God by seeking him.

I want you to know the only way to find God is to seek God. God will always be there, but you must seek God. If you don’t want God, you will not seek Him. Like it or not, you are seeking God or Satan every step you take in life.

Whole Heartedly

The first way to seek God is found in Deuteronomy 4:29: “But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.” You can’t be half hearted about seeking God, and you can’t let your soul (mind, will, and emotions) be self seeking. I guarantee that you are either seeking God or Satan, because there are no other choices. You will let one of them be in charge of your life.

The second way to seek God is continually. I Chronicles 16:11, “Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.” You must seek God all your life and seek after Him continually, or other things will come in and take His place. God will never leave you, but you may leave God by seeking other things. You must want to seek God.

Humbly before Him

The third way to seek God is to humble yourself before Him. It’s not always easy to humble ourselves. We’ve got to quit trying to be the boss and supposing we’re in charge. Forgiveness comes when you humble yourself to God. Like it or not, it is His way and not your way. II Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

As a Praying Person

The fourth way is also in II Chronicles 7:14. We must become a praying person. We have got to pray and seek His face. We cannot overcome until we lay our ways down.

The fifth way also comes from II Chronicles 7:14. We must quit sinning and doing our own thing. Our ways don’t work and our thing doesn’t work, so why do we keep trying to do it? Sin blocks the presence of God. Yet the turning away from sin opens God up to those that seek Him.

With a Prepared Heart

The sixth way to seek God is to prepare your heart. In preparing your heart, God will show up. He is always there, and you will find Him by preparing your heart, because it is then that He shows up big time. II Chronicles 19:3, “Nevertheless, there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.” Preparing can be lost so easily.

The seventh way to seek God is to diligently seek Him. We can have no holding back, and we must always seek God with all we have. He will help us find God. Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is; and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Seeking God is work, but the reward is great. Seeking has requirements to find God, so seeking is the only answer to find God.
